In this post I’m going to write a little about why the Provocative Change Works approach has been useful for me, and how it might be so for you too.

it’s like being some sort of human pinball [in one of those safety inflatable bubbles]. Bouncing from idea, memory, abstraction and state, all the while non threatening, humourous and enjoyable. The output being a refreshed perspective and a freer way of thinking about the thing.

Provocative Change Works is a way of having conversations and interactions with someone that help shift clients from “a stuck state” to a more fluid state, allowing for greater freedom and choice.
This is done by the following ways:
• Provoking or stimulating client responses by verbal and non verbal interactions
• Using non-specific or indirect Hypnosis and metaphor explorations – to create “fluid states” for the client. Eliciting and challenging metaphors
• Time Framing – Promoting new ways of moving through time and space

While this might sound complicated and hard to learn, nothing could be further from the truth, it has actually been easy and natural to implement in my Coaching and Therapy.

Delivered with humour and a twinkle in the eye of the practitioner, this approach is both powerful and disarming.

This comes from my personal experience to help with some public speaking anxiety I had back in the day [see the video below].

What’s it like?

This is actually harder to answer than it appears. The visual metaphor that comes up for me is this: it’s like being some sort of human pinball [in one of those safety inflatable bubbles]. Bouncing from idea, memory, abstraction and state, all the while non threatening, humourous and enjoyable. The output being a refreshed perspective and a freer way of thinking about the thing.

This was personally evidenced by going from being terrified in front of an audience, to, a week later, teaching communication skills to about a hundred DENTISTS!

Not even joking, this stuff works.

So then.

Nick KempEnter Nick Kemp, the Developer of Provocative Change Works.

Nick trained deeply and extensively with the Godfather of Provocation, Frank Farrelly.
Nick is coming to London to train us in [PCW].

He’s running an intensive workshop covering the basic tenets of [PCW] so much you’ll be pushed just outside of your comfort zone [where the magic happens btw] but not so much that you’ll be overwhelmed. I’ve attended similar [PCW] trainings before, and they are always an absolute treat.

The workshop takes place on the weekend of 28th and 29th April in Hammersmith, London.

Come along, and learn to provoke with the best. I’ll be there, so would love to ketchup with you there. I’ve verbally grappled with Nick in order to keep costs low [ this training is actually at a 2010 rollback price!] because it’s important this elegant approach is accessible to all of us. One caveat though, this price goes up by £50 on the 14th April, so get a spur on and book now.

Here’s the link to the booking page, alternatively just click the [EVENTS] menu item. You’ll find a bunch of media there that will give you a better insight than mine own crummy blog post.

Have fun, and see you on the training!
