Being in the present moment

Where am I choosing to place my attention right now?

Where..  am.. I..    choosing.. to.   place.. my.. attention?

[At the time of recording &  writing] Mum is in intensive care in hospital, facing a 6 hour operation [she survived! 👍💓]

Would be easy to be worried about that.

Or concerned and deep in thought about the plans for the morning’s Coaching client.

Or my children’s schooling and their future.

But instead of that I choose for this moment right now to be the focus of my attention.

Practicing being present. For this moment.

Feeling wind on my face.

Feeling my hand getting cold as it holds the camera.

I look beyond the camera and see my new puppy running around,
while still deeply honouring my old dog that died, yet lives on in my heart.

I practice bringing my attention back into the now.

And having this moment to be enough.

By grounding myself in this moment, it largely insulates me against worry.

It is not perfect, because I’m human and my mind still occasionally flits forward and backward in time, but I can always come back to now.

Then, as the attention returns to the now, I can’t spend time in future or past worrying.

I only have this moment here and this moment can be enough.

Because I allow it to be  so.

Learn this quick Mindfulness hack

So. It can help you how to deal with stress.

Whenever you find yourself spending too much going forward in time,

or too much time in the past, simply bring yourself back to this present moment.

Try this simple, effective Mindfulness practice.

  • Put your attention and your awareness on your breath.
  • As it enters through your nose travels into your lungs, let a little golden sparkle travel with it, tracking it.
  • As you breathe in, and out.
  • You’re going to get distracted, because you’re human.
  • Just return to the breath, simply and kindly.
  • And repeat this for as long as you wish, for a minute or so.

[BONUS CHALLENGE]
Discover peace and calm in this moment.

An even bigger challenge would be to find the bliss nestled in this moment,

if you can do that, you’re doing amazingly well.

But always return to this moment.

And if you need help learning how to do so, then of course I can help you.

But you can always just focus on your breathing.

Keep breathing…

In. And out.

The same way you’re going to as long as you live.

Putting all for your attention, focus and awareness on your breath.

And let that be enough and for a few moments, be your everything.
